Islamic Ruqyah is the action of reciting Quran and Supplications From the Prophetic Tradition ﷺ, in order to seek a cure from Allah ﷻ for any spiritual illnesses or diseases of the body and the mind. Allah ﷻ says in the Quran,

"We send down the Quran as a healing and mercy for the believers, but it only increases the wrongdoers in loss."
Al-Quran 17:82

Hazrat Ayesha رضي الله عنها narrated,  "Allah's Apostle ﷺ used to treat with a Ruqya saying, "O the Lord of the people! Remove the trouble. The cure is in Your Hands, and there is none except You who can remove it (the disease) . "

Ruqyah therapy has traditionally been employed for addressing spiritual afflictions like demonic or jinn possession, black magic (referred to as Sihr), and issues related to the evil eye (Ayn), envy, or jealousy (commonly termed as Hasad). It can also be used to seek a cure for bodily afflictions in conjunction with medical treatment or without it.

At East Birmingham Central Masjid, we deliver Ruqyah Services that strictly adhere to the principles of Shariah. In the contemporary era, a growing number of Muslims are vulnerable to the deception of black magicians, fraudulent spiritual leaders, and sorcerers who exploit them for personal gain. Our primary objective is to empower Muslims with knowledge, equipping them with the means to avoid becoming victims of such deceivers. One of our core objectives is to educate Muslims in the practice of self-Ruqayah and guide them towards placing their trust solely in Allah ﷻ .

Additionally, we strive to instruct Muslims in the recital of protective litanies (adhkar), in accordance with the Prophetic Sunnah ﷺ, as a means of shielding themselves from these malevolent afflictions.
